Cien sonetos de amor

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep

Old poetry

No, thank YOU... You find (and post) great stuff. I really enjoyed hearing Dylan and Radiohead do Creep. That's one of my favorite songs by Radiohead, and I didn't know this version of it existed- and now I do.

Hey Ed, just hanging out. Turned 60 in June and that must have turned on the 'swelling feet' switch in my still young body. I've got a lifetime warranty on it but be damned if I can find where I put it. At any rate (what does that mean?) I find I must limit my time at the ol keyboard .... ted hose don't make exactly the fashion statement I would choose, especially with flip flops and bermuda shorts .... just when you get used to being young.
As they say (who are 'they'?) one good thing about alzheimer's disease is that you can hide your own Easter eggs.

Stay lucid dude

Nibblin' on sponge cake,
watchin' the sun bake;
All of those tourists covered with oil.
Strummin' my six string on my front porch swing.
Smell those shrimp
They're beginnin' to boil.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville,
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
But I know it's nobody's fault.

Don't know the reason,
Stayed here all season
With nothing to show but this brand new tattoo.
But it's a real beauty,
A Mexican cutie, how it got here
I haven't a clue.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville,
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
Now I think, - hell it could be my fault.

I blew out my flip flop,
Stepped on a pop top,
Cut my heel, had to cruise on back home.
But there's booze in the blender,
And soon it will render
That frozen concoction that helps me hang on.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
But I know, it's my own damn fault.
Yes, and some people claim that there's a woman to blame
And I know it's my own damn fault.

I still run all day, forty hours per week, despite turning 65 last month. So, the time spent online is just resting time for me.

hey Ed .... I guess I might be too pragmatic..... as that guy said .... a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do~

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking.
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older.
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Where he goes.

A man
needs a shed
takes the clutter
from his head
lays it down
on musty beds
tight against the edge
stained but only
partial red
a man
needs a shed
it takes away
his heart of lead
a place to dwell until
the world is pure
and nearly
bled
with creosote
and sodden pine
with scattered pins
on earthy weathered twine
all friends within
a secret tract
to mine the mind
a space where men
have always fled
and every man
deserves
a shed.
