I have an old rainsoft and the timer motor quit working. I bought a new one and installed it, seems to be working OK, it is keeping good time but when I regenerate it takes up to 2 hrs and 30 min. at least to finish. Don't know what the problem is.

@Kevin Wright,
what are the settings on the timer? maybe the plates need adjusted,but if the index lever or the a/b pawl is worn it will start sticking during the regen. The latter is usually the case and timer mech is obsolete. Get a "tc" conversion kit for your model, digital now ,not mechanical,local dealer should be able to provide
