@msolga,
Problem fixed. Success at last!!!!!!! Surprised Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Here's how:

Drive to the Vodaphone dealer (as advised) , a few suburbs away. He takes my SIM card out & puts it into another cell phoned. Deduces that the problem is not my phone, but Vodaphone's software. (Also tells me that next time I'm asked for my email address, that I absolutely do not own a computer! Got that, msolga? Good thinking!)

Get home. Ring Vodaphone tech support. Go over my problem in copious detail. Hold for minutes while tech help is consulted. Tech help deduces the problem is not with Vodaphone, but with Nokia (brand of my cell phone), possibly a virus. Shocked

Ring Nokia customer support. 5 times, before I'm actually able to get through (to possibly Sth Africa?) Explain the problem at length. A few times. Then get directions on how to proceed. Involving, toward the end, taking the SIM card & battery out for a bit, then putting them both back in. Going back to square #1 a number of times as communications go fuzzy. Finally, we do it! 8o + text messages (all the same) removed! Yay!

I ask: What caused this problem? Was it a virus? No, no, but it was all Vodaphone's doing, nothing to do with Nokia!

OK, OK, whatever ..... Neutral

AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Shocked

As I typed the last few words of that last post, I heard a small beep.

And guess what? 80 new text messages!

Exactly the same as the previous 80!

Oh I give up!

Bugger.

I'm gonna have a drink.

Anyone still paying attention? Smile

OK, I spoke to Nokia again and ......

"The problem is not with Nokia, it's with ...... "

Do I REALLY need a cell phone, I ask myself?

Anyway (being an extremely stubborn person) ...

I have once again cleared the errant text message box .. pulled out the SIM card & the battery ... readjusted my settings .....

Now I'm waiting, just waiting ...

If the bugger beeps & does its 8o new message thing again ... well, I may just kill it!

So did I for a wee bit, Intrepid, but I quickly regained my sanity! That would be taking revenge too far! Laughing

Announcement: (da dum!)

Problem fixed!!!!!

I fixed it! Very Happy

How, you want to know? (I know you do! Laughing ):

(With my last remaining piece of sanity) I cobbled together the various bits & pieces of "advice" from the various folk I spoke to at Vodaphone & Nokia, at different corners of the globe ( Rolling Eyes ).... then cleared out ALL my received text messages (again), cleared all missed calls & sent messages ... turned the monster off (again). Removed the battery & SIM card (again). Then put them back in after a bit, and ......

THE TEXT MESSAGES STOPPED COMING!!!!

Surprised Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Not one more of the blighters, for over 24 hours now.

Let's face it ... I am a genius, there's no doubt about it! Laughing

... And I've decided. Should the problem recur, I will simply jump on the boody cell phone & be done with it!
