@Tai Chi,
I want to traverse the several great lakes. I read Least Heat Moons trip into lake Ontario in a C-Dory which is a nice compact cabin boat.

River Horse? I read that last summer. That was some trip.

@djjd62,
This is one of those puzzles. "FInd 6 things different between the two pics". Youll see that they are not the same lighthouse at all, just sorta look alike. Can you find all the differences?

@farmerman,
River Horse was the book and the C Dory 23 is a small compact mini cruiser that they used to make it all the way crozz country. I sat in one at a boat show and found them to be really snug and nicely arranged. All the cooking and washing is done in the pilot house and the head and bunks are below.

@farmerman,
i'm pretty sure it is, the little pic is probably an older shot, my pic is from last year, more growth around the lighthouse, the hydro pole is probably an upgrade of service, the window on the far right bottom in the little pic is behind the tree in mine

I'm thinking it may just be the same building taken from different perspectives. Here's another one:

Another:

Yet another:

(Not trying to be argumentative -- but we've spent a lot of time out there. There've been some changes too since Manitoulin Tourism got involved and did some much needed upkeep. Not sure how old dj's photos were.)

Another view of Split Rock. I post these images in such large scope merely to offer a more breathtaking view. Any objections to such actions and I will gladly remove them from this thread.

@djjd62,
Im not sure what were disagreeing about. If you go to the picture I posted, and hit properties, its listed as Manitoulin Island lighthouse which is what I called it no?

@farmerman,
Ah, that would be me being a nit-picker (bear with me I'm seriously under the weather and brain is foggy). You posted it as "another" Manitoulin lighthouse. I thought you hadn't realized that dj had already posted photos of that one. (Manitoulin is a big island and had at one time more than a dozen.)

Duhnen lighthouse

The building is a public reading room (Lesehalle) adjacent to a popular seaside resort. Located on the North Sea waterfront of Duhnen, just west of Cuxhaven at the southern entrance to the Elbe estuary.

Oland lighthouse

Hallig ('holm') Oland (Danish: Øland, North Frisian: Ualöönist) is a small hallig which is connected by a narrow gauge railway to the mainland and to hallig Langeneß.

@farmerman,
No need to apologize. I'm home sick and have too much time on my hands. Post away! The more lighthouses, the better.
