An elegant man, I'd see him often in Chicago, shopping, going to and fro taking care of his business, always impeccably dressed and with a gracious smile for the many who recognized him.

No biggie, as panz, says. I feel very good to have found others who share my appreciation for Jerry Butler and Doo Wop in general. I began this thread not knowing if there would be participation or not. Also, I happily stand corrected about Butler being Doo Wop.

I love the movie "Peggy Sue Got Married" because the music is so great. All doowop, since it takes place in the early 60's. I especially love this one song, which I'd never heard before, that goes something like "Just because I want someone who's kind, la-la-lalalala-la-la-la". Strong saxophone behind him. Anybody know this cut?

I watched Peggy Sue Got Married with my kids long ago. It has been so long, I don't recall a thing about it, except the title song.
Can you believe it? The lead singer on this cut was all of 15 years old. 15 years old??! What, do you think, did she know about this kind of heartache???
A fifteen year old can hurt a lot. Sure, she may not form a bond that lasts a lifetime, but her emotions are real. -Speaking as a man for someone I don't know.
