Yerbomatófono d'amore
All this "informal" instruments (plus string and percussion informal instruments) actually sound, and sound very good.
They were invented by Les Luthiers, a very creative Argentinian group.
You can listen online to some of these informal instruments, through this link:

Now, when I listen to Les Luthiers, I play their instruments in the air.
My favorite, who knows why, is the Narguilophone.
fbaezer....those look really cool, but I'm a geek. I'll check the link!
How about....'air Roland Kirk' who played three saxophones at once?
Air trombone is good too....air cello anyone?
cav, I truly believe Les Luthiers is the geekiest group that has ever existed.
Some of their song titles:
Family Planning Cantata
Concerto Grosso alla Rustica
The Epopeia of Oedipus of Thebe
The Thales Theorem
Gloria Hossana, that's the Question
The Laxaton Cantata

How about the all to familiar air conductor.
Get your batons ready....
DAMMIT PATIODOG!
Reading this whole thing thinking 'air theramin... air tharamin'
What you don't know, SealPoet, is that I AM YOU, only a little ahead. Should explain those deja vu moments you've been having in the middle of the night lately. Yeah, I know about those. Damn electrodes...
Is it possible to tell the air tuba from the air Sousaphone?
Yes, the same way you tell the difference between air trumpet and air fluglehorn.
Well, but you hardly can differ an orchestral air-tuba from a brass band air-tuba, I bet!
I once got in big trouble in school playing the air piano on my desk. My teacher said I was being disrespectful. <hanging head in remembered shame> I voted for the air violin though. Truly geeky, especially when played with thumb & finger as in "world's smallest violin."
That favored air instrument of fbaezer's looks remarkably similar to something. <Tapping head> Just can't quite remember what.... Oh! Oh!
Flute ofcourse...but then I am a gay man
I see that Gautam prefers the flute to the piccolo...hee hee....
