If a bicycle = penny farthing
If an unwell sea creature = Sick Squid (ie 6 pounds)
If a regal headdress = crown
If a leather worker = tanner
What amount of money could a burglar equate to cryptically in old money?

@sophocles,
A nicker. "Nick" means "steal" or "rob" in Cockney slang; a "nicker" means "one pound" (money).
