Well, my grandfather (mother's site) was called 'Walter'. So they called me at the registry and in church.

And since 1287 all the males (and unmarried females)of my family carry the name Hinteler (although three times some with other names had to take that name Laughing ).

So, I thought, it would be good enough for A2K as well. Laughing

Letty is part of a spoonerism. I wasn't very imaginative when I first signed in to Abuzz. As a matter of fact, I have five names in real life. Razz

Oldandknew ? Well I'm retired now = Old. When I was working I knew a load of stuff, but nowadays I simply plead memory loss. If pushed I make it up accordingly.

I lack imagination and creativity and therefore used my actual name. (I should've used something exciting like Rick Jones.)

harrumphffffffffffff - Miss Cleo liked the person who took that photo in a mortarboard very much. He was one of the first friends she made at school. I think she was just feeling a bit puzzled about why I was holding that thing on her head. The rest of that pic shows Bailey peering around the side of me to look at her in great puzzlement.

At a certain point, children should be allowed to choose their own names.

Cut & pasted from my profile...

About the username: "Eva" was the name of an aunt, my father's sister, who died shortly before I was born. My father always said there was an uncanny resemblance between us. It's quite obvious in photos. "Eva" wasn't actually her given name...she chose it...had it changed legally as soon as she came of age. So I thought it would be appropriate if I chose that name, too.

If asked, I can tell you about the derivation of "realjohnboy" if it isn't obvious.
But what is driving me nuts tonight, Grand Duke, is your nursery rhyme. I vaguely remember an ending where the Duke of York came down the hill with only half his troops. It was not a good day for the other 5000.
An "etymological Rumpelstiltskin" says Sozobe. Thanks for the clue. -realjohnboy-

RJB - I Google'd for "grand old duke of york" and it gave me 4,000 hits. The first 10 I could access all had a happy ending (with all the men leaving together).

What is more puzzling to me is that the Vale of York (where York sits) is one of the flattest pieces of land in northern England. There isn't a single hill anywhere near here where more than a couple of hundred soldiers could march, nevermind 10,000. I assume they must have been out on manoeuvres somewhere!

I may have rumbled you. I ran a Google search for 'sozobe', and excluded "able2know". The 6th hit appears on the follwing site:

www.sexkompas.cz/amateur-porn-sex-blo.html

Not able to check it out as the network administrator will probably sack me for looking at porn, but 'sozobe' appears to be a Czech word?
