Thanks, CJ. I don't have any white in that group, they're all shades of beige, tan, brown. Alex likes the Whipple, too, but I think it's a bit too bright for that carpet.

Mame, it all depends what you're accentuating with - what color is the sofa?
Look, here is a grey living room and they accentuated with a soft yellow..

Ah, the sofa matches the carpet beautifully. I still like whipple more...

@Mame,
I first liked the whipple best too, but if I block it out, my eyes gets used to and like the other one. Love that room CJ just posted. That was about the color of our gallery front room walls. Goes terrifically with paintings, and I love the soft yellows in the photo with the walls.

I'm with Mame. I prefer the slightly-greyed Labrador Blue with the grey carpet.

However, neither of those colors would find their way into my house. Blues and greys are not my colors. I always favor warm tones, and love all red-green combinations. Will have to find some photos.

I like the yellows in this room as an accent, but the grey, if I was to live there, would make me uneasy, unable to relax.

Strangely enough, I would totally wear that color in my wardrobe and feel really really great.

Eva, I like greens too as an accent.

@chai2,
I seem to respond to Caribbean colors.

Jewel tones are also good. Just bought a turquoise tee that made me happy, but so did a cream-colored trench coat. The way the exercise nook was painted, the colors make me happy although sometimes I look at the execution and it feels too sloppy to me, which is a different story.

Interesting that you said that about the grey and yellow room, Jes. That combination seriously grates on my nerves. It would give me fits of high anxiety to live in a room like that.

I love Caribbean colors, too. I've often dreamed about a having a casual place filled with turquoises and melons and corals. It just doesn't fit where I live now.

@Eva,
It was Chai who said it, but I agree with her. Grey walls just look industrial to me. I'd rather see the room in reverse: yellow walls, black/silver furniture and grey accents (pillows, etc.). Not my idea of ideal (I'd find the furniture sterile unless it had softer lines and looked really comfortable) but better than it is now, IMHO.

I couldn't live with too much grey either. Southern California has its very own
colors as Boston for instance (as my Bostonian friends would say),
and I like the different regional color scheme.

Caribbean colors are wonderful too, especially the vibrant colors of their
houses from pink with blue accents to green with yellow accents. However,
such a house would be displaced in Vermont.

This is an interesting question and I am surprised that only women have responded.

Purple is the color that makes me feel at peace.

@Eva,
Ditto. I need colour. Grey is okay to wear, but not in a house, well, mine, at least. And I don't really like yellow, with or without the grey. Carib colours, mexicana colours, african colours, middle eastern - all yes, yes, yes. But it depends, doesn't it, on what you're doing - decorating a bedroom, a bathroom, a family room, or yourself... don't want it too lively to go to sleep, right?

I also like the cool blues, greens and whites together. Very crisp.

Gray and yellow together like that always remind me of Ayn Rand. sophisticated, but not all that comfortable.

I am another vibrant color fan...love jewel colors too... I love wearing those colors. I avoid grey altogether. I'm ok with light pastel shades...but it's the bright colors that perk me up.

Lovely jewel tones (.sapphire, emerald, ruby, garnet) like these....

sakhi, how nice to see you!
Yes, Indian colors are very vibrant and rich, using mostly earthy tones
or derivatives of flowers/spices like saffron, henna, curry, etc. all so beautiful.

@Mame,
Is that Labrador Blue by Benjamin Moore or is it another paint? It's really expensive but I love that color and want it! I'm trying to match it somehow...
