Individual examples of kindness and communal efforts at improving the types of conditions you describe are "good", but stop gapes. Accts of this sort can number in the millions can take place but the real problem remains unchanged. Africa is a write-off until three things take place. The people must make significant progress, amongst themselves, in becoming stable, post-industrialized democracys. The people must make radical, revolutionary progress in controlling population. The people must abandon that which is also a serious problem among African-Americans in the US; they must abandon fully the corrosive, culturally degenerative mind set that says that what we are is someone else's fault, it is our responsibility to improve our lives. Unless these things are done, no acts of kindness will make a permanent difference.
