No one has ever been offended by her doing that. It's just her way.
Oooohhhh girl.. shes black huh?
RACIAL PROFILING!!!!
In fact, she is as white as I (am)
I cracked up one time when she came to my office. She's part of the interview team, and that day they were going to do a phone interview with someone who lived in another state, and was moving here. She said she preferred that she call us on that day.
The candidate called in and we put her on speakerphone. Apparantly she bumped her phone at home and disconnected herself before anyone could even say hello.
Anyway, she called back within a minute and you could tell she was embarrassed. "Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to hang up on you. etc."
S. just gushed "Oh GIRL! That's all right! I do that all the time."
Another thing S. does is this sharp intake of breathe at anything the least bit exciting or shocking.
My mother died....
GASP! Oh girl, I'm so sorry.
I found asparagus on sale at the market.....
GASP! I'm going to go to the store, Randy just loves asparagus!
Now, keep in mind this is a woman in her late 50's with a masters degree who makes Well into the 6 figures each year.
That's our girl.
Black peoples say girl?
