Why is it that with some posts, you find an X, a delete key , while with others, the X is missing?

I was about to submit a reply to the last thread in which you asked about deletion when you deleted it.
You can delete posts that have not been replied to. After there is a reply deleting would have to be done by a moderator. Of course the moderators don't have time to attend to all deletion requests so only request a deletion if you really need it.
