That requires some proof, Jack. Astarte's husband was most likely Molech.

@Romeo Fabulini,
That's not in John 13.1 but in John 14.13-14. If you're going to spread the Gospel, at least get your biblical references right...

The message of John 14, where Jesus washes his disciples' feet, is in essence that a good master should be a good servant. It is not at all about prayer.

And God is theoretically the father of everybody and everything. Rats and the HIV virus included.

Thanks mate, but just a couple of things-
1- When Jesus said "I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son" (John 14:13/14) surely that means we can pray to Jesus if we like? We know the disciples definitely didn't ask him to wash their feet, so it can't be a reference to feet!

2- God gave us the medical knowhow to control rat-borne diseases, and he gave us a fatherly warning against gay sex which let the AIDS virus flourish.
(AIDS has killed 35 million people so far)

Anyway Satan does nasty stuff so why blame God for everything?
For example Jesus said-"Satan has bound this crippled woman for eighteen years" (Luke 13:16) then he cured her..Smile

@Romeo Fabulini,
I knew you were afraid of that. That makes me sick. What makes me sicker is you are just like the average Christian. << Extremely critical >>. I can't say I believe in god a god. For my doubts. So I have to say I don't believe in a god, god, a god. Man could be my god. I would believe in what was right before my face. I would be his slave. As Christians are to a god that isn't there right before their face. Understand?

Hmmmm. Lost in thought. Well. The weather. Is right before our faces each day. What I believe we came from. I do. Believe in the weather. Who couldn't? If you don't than you're the dumbass. Ay?,.. as in, understand?

I am your gift of knowledge of which provides knowledge. Your decision to remain ignorant or not. I am to help to assist in your growth maturity growth. How well is your understanding ability? Do you understand yet? Or are you just as the rest who insist on remaining ignorant?

It's probably the way the author of John may have understood it. Whether 'John's own interpretation of Jesus was correct or not, we will never know. But John has always been the least literal and the most interpretative 4 canonic gospel (its canonization was debated I think). It departs from the 3 synoptic gospels significantly, but has some value , eg as describing some most memory-worthy 'Jesus moments' such as the washing of feet, that other gospels did not report.

Me afraid of what mate? There are only two things I'm afraid of, Daleks and women in bright red lipstick!
And what am I critical of? Sure I like slapping the mush-headed fundies of organised religion and oddball cults around, I hope you don't mind?
Incidentally I've never slapped you around have I, so what's your beef?

@Romeo Fabulini,
So please tell me what you mean by slapped around? If we are keeping score so far you have failed to register a single point against any of the A2k knowledgeable. Self scoring doesn't count

Refusal to accept defeat =/= win

You haven't had your list of worshippers from the evangelical sites out recently, if you need to make yourself feel better you are welcome to do so again.

Listen- hummm...hummm...hummm...
That unearthly low-pitched humming you hear is me pulsating with spiritual power like an electricity generating station, it's a trait all we holy men have which makes us unbeatable in debates-
"They couldn't beat Paul in arguments because of his wisdom and the spirit" (Acts 6:10)..Smile

It's a POWER thing!
"Our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with POWER" {1 Thess 1:5)
"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of POWER" (2 Tim 1:7)
"I am full of POWER, judgement and might by the spirit of the Lord" (Micah 3:8)
"The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world, they have divine POWER to demolish strongholds" (2 Cor 10:4)
"Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty POWER" (Ephesians 6:10)

"After Jesus spent the night in prayer, everybody tried to touch him because POWER was coming from him" {Luke 6:12-19)
Jesus said - "Someone touched me, I know that POWER has gone out from me." (Luke 8:46)

And we too can "touch" Jesus by logging onto him to get a 'feelgood power download', just mumbling a few words now and again will get you connected, even if it's just "Jesus remember me", whenever you're feeling tired, lonely, fed up..Smile

@Romeo Fabulini,
When is this power going to kick in Mick? I haven't seen you win a "debate" yet. You have failed so far to present a cohesive case for your interpretation of scripture and you've been shown up numerous times for it. I am pretty sure Gamaliel's boy Paul would not have been spoken of so highly had he performed like you.
