Alligator found wandering campsite in Pambula NSW Australia.
A BRAVE scout leader has tackled a wayward 1.5-metre alligator which mysteriously turned up at a campsite on NSW's south coast.
Noonameena campsite caretaker Chris Littlejohns and his wife Jan were sitting on the verandah of their home at the property in Pambula late on Monday when they heard a rustle in the bushes.
"We saw this object coming through the fence and the grass and thought it was a goanna because we get a few of them from time to time, but then we saw the snout and the head and thought: 'That's not a goanna'," Mr Littlejohns said.
"Needless to say we were bouncing around on the verandah for a while wondering what to do."
Initially thought to be a crocodile, wildlife experts have now identified it as an alligator.
