Why I Have A Gun

I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

Police Protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to Take an ass whoopin'. .. author unknown

@cjhsa,
Why you (or anyone) has a gun is not what's interesting. Why you dwell on it is.

@rosborne979,
Why do you dwell on what you think I dwell on ?

@cjhsa,
It's a sad indictment of a civilised society.

Because you start threads on your dwellings. And I'm here on A2K to dwell on threads. Your threads are moderately entertaining in a twisted sort of way, and they're not (usually) as odious or banal as some others.

Gun control-- the discriminatory licensure
of a citizen 's right to defend his life and property--
has not yet been eradicated. By USURPATION,
victim disarmament still exists.

Gun control is an evil that requires our attention, until it is ended
and the status quo ante of autonomous personal freedom
of self defense is legally restored. Until then, we need to dwell on this problem.

The reason for a citizen to carry a gun
is so that he can control the situation in a predatory emergency.

@OmSigDAVID,
So it's not guns which you are dwelling on. It's the philosophy of Gun Control (or not) which really interests you. In which case you might not be all that interested in talking about guns or posting pictures of them or anything like that. You're just interested in the philosophy underlying the law. Right?

At the moment, it is not; its not as if we were discussing
the relative merits of revolvers over automatics.

Rong.
At this discrete point in time,
on this thread, considerations of abstract principle have my attention.

However, I am fully capable of discussing my personal preferences
among submachineguns, and my vu of ideal defensive calibrations
and bullet configurations for handgun use, and elsewhere, I have done so.

I remember daydreaming at the age of 3 about the revolvers
I saw on the hips of police officers and bank guards. At age 8,
I armed myself with a .38 caliber S & W Model 36 revolver that I carried everywhere.
I sewed leather holsters for it and worked out with it on the Arizona desert.

My interests include both theory and practice.
I am a gun collector and I enjoy working out at gunnery ranges,
as well as discussing the constitutional jurisprudence pertinent
to the subject matter, which I find to be pivotal to the point
of whether the American citizen is free and individualist or is docile,
cowering before our hired help, government, in a collectivist despotism.

I'm interested in the whole (big) picture. There is international pressure to disarm America, and I have no intention of succumbing to that pressure, even if my (dumbass) president-elect intends to do so.

Nobama. Keep the change.
