TWO WOULD-BE ROBBERS NO MATCH FOR HOMEOWNER AND HIS GUN

- Jason Howerton

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Fort Wayne police say a man fatally shot a man
who tried to rob him outside his home.

Police say the intended victim was standing on or near his porch Saturday
night when he was approached by two men who tried to rob him. However,
the man was armed with a handgun and fired several rounds, striking one of
the would-be robbers several times while the second fled on foot.

The intended victim called police immediately to report the exchange of
gunfire. He was shot in the foot and was in good condition Sunday at a hospital.

Police said the robber who was shot was pronounced dead at the scene
and that a weapon was recovered near his body.

Police didn’t release the names of the men who were shot.

It makes me happy to see criminal predators get nailed like that,
but I deem this to be incomplete, sloppy journalism.

The reporter fails to reveal what kind of defensive ordnance
the armed citizen successfully used; was it a revolver? an automatic ?
What caliber?? Weight & configuration of the slugs ?
What stance did he use? One handed firing, or did he brace it with his 2nd hand??

Woud it be asking too much to exhibit the gun in a picture ??

@OmSigDAVID,
Of course, all we really know for certain at this point is that one man is dead and the man who did the shooting claims they tried to rob him.

I'm not saying that "DIDN'T" happen, only that we don't know, and may never know for certain.

I actually don't mind if aggressive dangerous robbers get killed during their crimes, but I feel a sense of caution before blindly trusting the shooter's opinion.

Caution in respect to trusting the shooter's opinion. I thought I said that already.
