I've heard of these pools, but have never participated. What are your thoughts on them?

It seems morbidly fastinating to me. However, I am could not find myself ever able to bet on wishing some one dead. Sort of seems like you are happy and you get a monetary award for some one dying.

And are some people off limits to choose in a dead pool? Or is anyone fair game? Who would you draw the line on choosing in a dead pool?

@Linkat,
There are times when I wished some individual "dead," but I really don't mean it literally. Figuratively speaking, that is.

There is an investment scheme called a 'tontine' where moneys invested by a member of the group is shared amongst the surviving members until there is only one left who collects the capital.

Wikipedia also mentions that:
Quote:
tontines have been banned in Britain and the United States due to the incentive for investors to kill one another

Goddam nanny state! I should be able to kill any of my business partners if I so choose!!!
