Heck fb, I'll believe anything anybody tells me at this point. One thing is for sure, not knowing a dang thing about hockey or how the scoring works or the strategy in who I play and who I don't, who I need to get rid of and who I should keep, etc. isn't doing a whole lot for my image as a hockey expert.

Good day all. The hockey season is in full swing. I'm in Michigan. A state rich with hockey tradition. A few comments, questions.
Hungryfreaksdaddy. Last night I watched Detroits new, young goaltender, Conklin, stand on his head, and block every shot, except one. I think he's going to be good.
Question. Why is a high GAA (goals against average), a good statistic, and adds to the teams point total for placement in the standings?
Rockhead. Who is your partner on your hockey team?
I have four (4) left wingers. It would be nice if I had a second golie who played, or some back up defencemen. ( c denotaing sports heritage).

I must be missing something then.
A team is ranked by point total. The higher the total, the higher the ranking.
If you look under standimgs, and add the points in each category for a specific team, including GAA, the end result matches the total.

The lower the GAA the higher the score that goes towards total points.

I can't argue with that. I will only point out that, if you add any set of figures, the end results will match the total.
