Monkey riddle help

Ok. So. I need help figuring out this riddle.
A monkey is stuck on an island.
He wants to cross over to the other island where there are pretty girl monkeys.
Islands are seperated by molten lava.
All he has is a few pieces of cardboard boxes, the size of an average tv,
rubber bands, rocks and paper clips.
Islands are quite far apart.
How does he get across?
