Ah, politics, isn't it a scream?

Minister quits for dancing in his undies

An Australian government minister has been forced to resign for dancing with nothing but his underpants on his head at an office party.

Matt Brown quit only three days after he was sworn in as police minister of New South Wales, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

Mr. Brown was the life of the office party

It came after reports were leaked that Brown danced with underpants on his head to techno music on a leather couch during a drunken office party and straddled the breasts of a lady MP.

Premier Nathan Rees said he demanded Brown's resignation because the former lawyer had given assurances that "absolutely nothing untoward" had happened during the party.

"I subsequently put it to former minister Brown late last night that there are too many reports of you out of your underwear for me to ignore," Rees told local radio.

"He conceded he'd been in his underwear (briefly) and that gave me no option but to demand his resignation," Rees added.

Mr Brown has admitted behaving "in a manner not befitting a minister", but denied claims that he straddled the breasts of Wollongong MP Noreen Hay at the post-budget party.

A witness told The Australian newspaper that Mr Brown stripped and danced to loud techno music, then "mounted the chest" of Ms Hay.

The saga is a major embarrassment for the new government whose cabinet ministers were sworn in on Monday.

A visibly shattered Mr Rees said he was fed up and conceded the revelations were a big setback: "Embarrassed doesn't begin to describe it ... It's beyond even anger. This is just a gross disappointment," he said.

I don't know about him, but I had a hoot putting this story together, if you know what I mean, Edgar. Laughing

@dadpad,
and the current New South Wales government (of which Matt Brown is/was a minister) is seriously on the edge of the abyss and about to topple.

Stupid bastard. We are seriously in need of some decent politicians of any colour

Are ministers of a church allowed to dance with underpants on their heads in Australia?

If not, tell them to move here. People would send them money.

(Stranger things have happened.)

@dadpad,
Dadpad and Margo: I can highly sympathize when it comes to politicians. Many seem to be of the same stripe, no matter what country they come from. Wink

Indeed, and I may be partly to blame for that, but isn't that part of the fun?

I will be issuing a global disclaimer for my future work shortly, similar to my thread HERE.
