I have a rainsoft amb 744 water softener. It stopped working so I disassembled as far as I could. It appears the main piston that goes down the center of the valve was stuck and the shear pin sheared as expected. I have managed to free the valve somewhat but would like to remove it and lube up what I can. My question is "how do I remove the piston?" It does not appear to want to come straight out the top without some further disassembly. Do I need to remove the entire valve from the casing?

@tomneedshelp,
This is not an easy do-it-yourself job.
You need a special socket with teeth.
Also, the O rings need to be replaced.

@tomneedshelp,
You need to unscrew the cap of the piston. It needs to be careful you don't break off the little tabs on it. You should then be able to pull the piston.
