Hello folks!

I have three pictures of three different philosophers, but i do not know their name, could you help me with finding their names, i've tried google's picture search and a few other sites, but alas i did not find what i was looking for.

Maybe one of you knows, or if you don't think of it as a trivia Very Happy

The philosophers can be found at http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/~iarkin/philosophers.jpg

Cheers,
/iarkin

---UPDATE:
Well, we've managed to pin down two of the philosophers, Bertrand Russell and Aristotle, only one left now. The guy in the center. He could be A.J. Ayer, but that is yet to be confirmed. If you have any ideas please enlighten us. Very Happy

the last one might be aristotle. I think the middle looks like b.f. skinner, but he's not a philospher and that's a wild guess. Based on photos of him.

Thank you for your quick answer!

Yes, i've been thinking along the terms of aristotle too, but i wanted to have it confirmed.

About Skinner, i'd have to disagree. Altough the only pictures i found of him, he was of age Smile . But i found one from his younger days.
http://online.sfsu.edu/~psych200/graphics/skinner.jpg and, i at least, don't find it very similar.

Cheers,

I'm not sure about the ones on top and bottom, but isn't the guy in the middle from the Andy Griffith show? I think his name was Goober.

Number 2 COULD be a young AJ Ayer. It is difficult to tell from the images I found on Google.

I am pretty sure 3 is not Aristotle - judging on images of him elsewhere.

Also NOT Socrates or Diogenes. Sigh.

I think the last one is either Alexander the Great or Marcus Aurelius.

Don't look like Marcus Aurelius. Unless BEFORE he grew his beard?

Alexander was educated by a philosopher - but I don't think he counts as one. Pictures don't look right, either.

Thanks guys!

The original image had six philosophers. But i managed to narrow it down to three. Maybe if you see the other three you could see some connection i did not.
http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/~iarkin/philosophers_all.jpg

The four we got so far:
top left: Bertrand Russell
top right: Wittgenstein
middle right: Sokrates
bottom right: John Cleese (philosopher? oh well..)

Marcus Aurelius might be a good guess for nr 3 judging from these pictures.

I was wondering if it might have something to do with this:

Bruces' Philosophers Song

a.k.a.

The Philosophers' Drinking Song

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant
Who was very rarely stable.

Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
Who could think you under the table.

David Hume could out-consume
Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, [some versions have 'Schopenhauer and Hegel']

And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel.

There's nothing Nietzche couldn't teach ya
'Bout the raising of the wrist.
Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed.

John Stuart Mill, of his own free will,
On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill.

Plato, they say, could stick it away--
Half a crate of whisky every day.

Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle.
Hobbes was fond of his dram,

And René Descartes was a drunken fart.
'I drink, therefore I am.'

Yes, Socrates, himself, is particularly missed,
A lovely little thinker,
But a bugger when he's pissed.

BUT our philosophers do not seem to fit! This is a Monty Python song....au/guide/hum/philosophy/philos_song.html
