I Am Really Not Sure....

About the new site.

Is anyone else a little put off by it? It's almost too simple. Too plain. Too....hard to follow and to read. Maybe I've been with A2K too long but....

I feel bad saying I don't like it because I know that a lot of time and hard work was put in but it doesn't feel ANYTHING like the A2K I know. It's like a completely different forum.

I feel...displaced. Crying or Very sad

I do like that the emoticons are right there now instead of a seperate pop up box.

@Bella Dea,
Bella I feel (as I'm sure others do) a little lost. However I think its just because its all different.

Its almost like a big new house and At the moment I cant even find the bathroom

Give it time.

I know what you mean Bella. I spend my working life learning knew systems and interfaces and this is less than intuitive, though I am tired.

Even the difference between reply and reply to all is weird. I think I understand the motivation for it though, trying to combine usenet-like features with PHPBB...

Hang in there for a bit please - it may eventually seem natural like the old interface. Can anyone remember if A2K seemed weird compared to Abuzz? I can't.

@hingehead,
Oh yeah! It seemed superweird.

Abuzz did have a really good look.

I think we had a lot of fun with images and quoting and emoticons and avatars and bells and whistles like that right off with A2K though.

Plus they co-existed -- people who had A2K overload could go back for some nice soothing Abuzz and then once calmed, could venture back in to A2K.

The bells and whistles here are a little more subtle I think. PLUS Craven keeps saying it would launch rough -- not everything is working the way it's supposed to, which impacts the intuitiveness part.

@hingehead,
A2K definitely looked weird after I made the transition from Abuzz--so much so that I started an A2K thread about it (and got chastised by many former Abuzzers who had made the transition much earlier than I did). Mostly what I didn't like about A2K at first was the visual layout and the counterintuitive organization of the categories. I got over both with time, of course, so I'm sure the same will happen here.

I remember the change to the a2k format from Abuzz as seeming quite weird. I think I got right into it though, within hours. I'm already sort of comfortable with this new version, like it. That's from sometime midmorning to about 1:30 in the afternoon.

You've either forgotten Abuzz, or you have a very dry sense of humor.

@OGIONIK,
yes.....I read this right after I had to turn the light in my room on because the screen was too bright to view in the dark

FUNNY!!!!

But I'm sad....I don't think I'll be visiting much anymore. I'm have another window up right now trying out new forums to visit that remind me of Old A2k.
