I've just realised that the intro to Yummy Yummy Yummy by Ohio Express was 'paraphrased' by The Cars 'Just What I needed'

I can't quite put my finger on it but I'd swear Kinobe's 'Slip into something' is sampling or riffing on Nancy Sinatra's 'You only live twice'. Or is it just me?

OH. OH. OH. OH!

I just realized you can do mash ups! I couldn't quite get the timing right but when you mash up those last two songs they do sound very much alike.

TOO FUN!

You could probably do a very, very cool mashup thread, hingehead just by tellling us when to start each song.

@hingehead,
I'm totally not smart enough to do mashups but I do love to listen to them!

I'll be watching for you to start a mashup thread.

One I just came across on the blogosphere

THe Beatles Lady Madonna piano riff is based on Humphrey Lyttleton's 'Bad Penny Blues' - see and hear it here:

The Sisters Of Mercy rack was released a year earlier than the Stan Ridgway one - did he borrower that riff?

This just came up on random (I don't have much listening history with CSNY) I kept waiting for it turn into Alabama by Neil Young. Neil Young ripping off his own intro?

@hingehead,
The first song just came up on random and I fully expected to be the second song at the intro ....

That happened to me the other day too!

I was listening to the radio and fully expected the song to be "Owner of a Lonely Heart" and it turned out to be a disco song. I fully intended to post it here but when I sat down to do I couldn't remember which disco song for the life of me. It's still driving me crazy.

I swear that this 1969 offering from Santana is ripping of the two songs below it. I know it's the hammond, but there are distinct lines form both ripped off.

At least if I have the timelines right Santana is the ripper and the other two are rippees

Irene Nelson - When apples fall to the sky

Reminds some Coldplay works, not in terms of melody but the feel is very Coldplayish..Anyway I like the song

This just came up on random and I'm convinced the Everlast track is a rip of it. Well, at least the guitar riff.

Not a song but....

Every time I "wake" my computer up I'm reminded of the first three notes of "I Want To Hold Your Hand". It's more about rhythm and pitch since the "wake up" isn't notes but .... anyway..... it's pretty cool.
