Hi all,
Me and my spouse has applied for skilled imigrant visa, will be moving to Adelaide in next couple of months time. I have IT and BPO experience and my husband into Automobile background with 7 years of work experience. Would like to the possibility of getting good job in Adelaide. Is any chance of getting job before we leave from India. Please need help in this.
Madhu
Madu. The auto industries in Australia is on it's knees... They insisted on producing gas guzzling cars and now finding,( as in the USA) sales are rock bottom and they will soon be laying off their workers. Have a business friend who had a company in Adelaide associated with the auto industry, he couldn't get out of it quickly enough, has now gone into the puter industry here in Queensland.
I would advise any city in Australia other than Adelaide, it's a lovely city, but has terrible weather, I would advise you to investigate it a whole lot further if I were you.
Madu don't be put off by Anton's Adelaide bashing, it's not that bad and depending on which part of India you live in it might suit you.
As skilled immigrants with good English I'm sure you will pick up work quickly, but perhaps not before you arrive. The job market has been very strong for a few years now. You may not get exactly the job you want straight away but you'll get something to tide you over while you settle in get a feel for where you want to aim for.
What sort of IT do you have, and what's the nature of your spouse's automobile experience? Is he a mechanic or a line worker like Anton assumes.
Seeya!
Need info for getting job in Adelaide
Hingehead, Thanks for the info.
My husband is a Manager in automobile industry. He is into marketing, customer support and dealership management. He has exp in heavy vehicle as well as commercial vehicles.
My experience in IT technical as well as BPO (backend as well as voice).
Since we have got Skilled immigrant visa with sponsor, need to work in regional area for atleast 1 year opted for Adelaide. If any place where we can get job easily please suggest.
How does Adelaide qualify as a regional area?
welcome madhu hope it goes well for you
Should be plenty of options for heavy vehicle experts here (mining boom, our reliance on trucks for transport all over this wide brown land).
I'm not sure what BPO is (unless you mean business process outsourcing) - I think most of our call centres are already in India. But there are always jobs for first and second level IT support.
Adelaide is Australia's fourth or fifth largest city - which is why Dadpad is incredulous about it being considered regional. But I guess our immigration people consider anything not Sydney or Melbourne 'regional'.
