A tight-rope artist crosses the highwire blindfolded as part of his act. When the music stops it was his signal that he'd reached the other end. Unfortunately, there was a new conductor who stopped the music too early.

eh? that's wrong i'm afraid, lol. The answer is that the "he" is an insect sitting on one of the musical chairs. Unfortunately, he was squashed when the music stopped.

I agree with Craven, and when did we see flies as he or she? a fly's a fly. and geez this riddle went on for more than a month. by the way, what's the longest unsolved riddle on this forum anyway?
Dunno, the point I was trying to make is that a good riddle is not an unsolveable one though.
It's easier to make an unsolvable riddle than a good one.

I heard about different solution. It was with wife and husband - wife was dancing and her husband wanted her to die. I heard it some time ago.
