Youtube dummy

I've looked/listened with Youtube for quite a while now and have amassed a batch of favorites.

I go to add a favorite just now, and get the message

"You must confirm your email address to add a favorite." I click OK. But where do I confirm my address? (Yes, I even looked at my emails.) Nowhere immediately visible, or even with some effortful looking through the help page.

Then I figure I'll contact them, which they say you can do if you look at the help center questions and still can't find your answer - at the customer service email. What customer service email? Quoting, if you can't find your answer there, you'll be directed to a form where you can email Customer Service for help.

No, you're not directed to such.

Meantime, I can't make Caetano Veloso's Cucurrucucu Paloma a favorite....

I didn't mention that I found a link on yahoo questions that said "resolved" to a similar question, but wasn't as that person's answer was also useless.

However, I've found a link which will probably help. Will report back if so.

I made it a favorite with no problem. Don't know how to fix your problem.

I may well be missing something obvious. On the other hand, some websites make it quite difficult to reach customer service instead of some general helpful hints to the hindered, on purpose, to reasonably cut down on emails when many questions are common. But still....

I might remember that yahoo itself is one of them, although I eventually found that.

and this may be too obvious a question but ... are you logged in already when you try to add a favourite?

(I misfired on that once or twice in the early days)

Oh, wait, logged in?

snort... maybe not. But I think I always have been before, whenever I go there.

At the top it says "sign out" not sign in....

In the meantime, here's a video that gets me...

Jobim and Veloso..

Alas, nope. I tried my username as the equivalent of ossobuco and as the email address I'd listed on my little chart for this stuff. No go either way.

Well, some sunny day I'll find a way to contact the customer service folk.

@jespah,
First of all, a belated thanks, Jespah. I tried that, to use another email, but Youtube recognized my computer and insisted I confirm my old email.... perhaps I did that wrong. In any case -

I tried yet again to figure out how to confirm my email after not being able to add a favorite, and joined some damn discussion group to be able to ask this simple question. Then before I asked the question, I tried the Account button one more time. Turns out there is a tiny little envelope on the row of stuff at the top after you click Account, and yes, I could confirm my email through that. Whew.

However, the instant I did that a %#%#%#%#% home page showed up with room for contacts and friends and probably a refrigerator and freezer, plus the ability to get, it looks like, emails.

Now I'm freaking, but I figure someone on a2k can reassure me or advise me.
Does the whole world now know my email address?? Or, as I would hope, is that kept private, or as private as these things go? No, I don't want to look some more hours in their lame help section to find this out.

I see there's an opportunity to connect youtube to my google account, OH NO THANK YOU. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I realize I'm as reactive to this change in Youtube as some folks are re the new a2k, and see the humor in that.

@ossobuco,
I can't give you instructions because Youtube is under maintenance right now and won't let me create a dummy account to find out what you need.

Try logging in, and if your account is not active most applications will tell you at this point, and the good ones will usually provide you with a message telling you how to resend the activation email.

Note: the maintenance might not allow you to do this right now.

@Robert Gentel,
I now might be ok with youtube, have gotten it going, but not sure my email isn't thrown about far and wide, what with the the thrill book, face page, whatever...

I'm sorry I signed up with a key email address. On the other hand, I might be wrong to be sorry about that. So it goes.
