Ok, here is a riddle I got in an email and can't figure out.....
3 men rent a room in a hotel. The rooms costs $30.00 so each man pays $10.00 and they go to their room.
A short time later the clerk discovers the room should only have been $25.00 so he gives $5.00 to the bell boy and tells him to take it to the men.
On the way, the bellboy can't figure out how to spli the $5.00 3 ways, so when he gets to the room, he gives each man $1.00 and keeps the other $2.00.
So, the men paid $9.00 for the room. 3 times 9 is 27. Plus the $3.00 the bellboy gave them equals $30.00. where did the other $2.00 come from?
It's a trick question.
Three men pay $9.00 each.
$25 for the room
$2 for the bellboy
Or:
Three men pay $10 each.
$25 for the room
$2 that the bellboy keeps
$3 for the refund.
The riddle is stated wrong to begin with. The question is supposed to be "Where did the other $1 go?" (because they paid $9 each and the bellboy kept $2, 3*$9=$27 + $2 = $29).
