[answered] Seriously: WTF is up with the "Featured" threads?

85% of them are lame and present no real significance above and beyond more "standard" threads. I mean, I'm sure I'm not the only person to notice that nine out of ten times these "featured" threads are utterly ignored.

Call me a dick, but your mods are wasting their time suggesting that what they think are "good" topics are in some way superior to the others. Again, 90% of the time, these "featured" threads go weeks and months without response.

Message boards should be organic and dynamic. You cannot "force" a topic to be considered above and beyond others.

aww.. your threads are not featured?
A2k not so-fist-a-kated enough?(its a joke..)

Why do you think the mods are wasting their time? They feature threads that appeal to this demographic. If anal sex is appealing to most people, it may be featured.

If how to install WinXP is important, it will be featured.

If Obamas latest slip of the tongue is appealing it will be featured.

Featured makes no difference in how you participate unless you are dying for control.

They work on this site all the time. They know whats best. Sorry it doesnt work for you.

shewolfn I was wondering if you could start a thread on anal sex.... I don't think that's ever been discussed here and I'm curious to know how it works.....not that I'd ever do something so yucky....

They have a function that highlights a favored topic? I'm out of it.

A lot of the topics may be of no interest to you resonate with others who participate. Whether those topics are foolish or not they have every right to post-- freedom of speech and all that rot. Democracy in action, blah, blah. Excessive? Probably, but you have the choice to ignore.

There are a jillion and one other opportunities to have a voice on the Internet besides here.

That Shewolfn is both a great photographer and thinker.

By the way, I DO wish--as a partisan--that she had not referred to "anal sex" and "Obama's tongue" in the same post. A bit tasteless if you ask me.

Im doomed I tell ya. I have the touch of death on threads.

i was actually asking boyfriend about the featured threads last night - because the ones in the forums i was looking into actually just seemed to be outdated. and there seemed to be a LOT of them.

they're easy enough to scroll through.

<shrugs>

I think they are random. I don't think the mods sit down every day and say "hm, what lame thread can we feature today?"

Don't say that! You ruined my day. I strive to make the highly sought after "featured" threads. Now what do I have to look forward to?
