Yahoo's algorithim is really really bad. But they have only been live with that search for a week or two.

They have more IP based url's indexed than domain ones. And they do a piss poor job of determining duplicate pages. So they end up indexing both the IP address and the domain. Rolling Eyes

They also put way too much weight on the page titles in the algos.

But I'm rooting for them, I hope they improve enough to take more of Google's market share.

Their results were always very different from google - did they sort them somehow?

I tend to open a google window at work and do both searches at the same time - the results haven't matched in the year and a half i've had to deal with yahoo.

Odd. Their results on the whole were usually pretty similar. Was it yahoo.ca? If so, maybe the search was restricted to canadian sites. I never tested Yahoo.ca back when they were using google results.

Ok, the IP based URLs are now dynamically rewritten to the domain URL and it gives a 301 response. So the bad links in Yahoo SERPs should work now and as Yahoo Slurp notices the 301s they'll pull those links from their index.

Actually, it was the other way around, craven, --- google.ca (with Elmer Fudd on top) and yahoo.com. Still searching the whole net, but that could have had an effect.

Will see how I fare behind the firewall at work later today if I can.
