Very nice. I had:
CAROL KANE was in Scrooged with
BILL MURRAY who was in Groundhog Day with
ANDIE MACDOWELL who was in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes with
RALPH RICHARDSON
NOEL COWARD to JOHN WAYNE (this is now the correct question)
I'm about to leave for a matinee. I'll check back for answers when I get home, in a few hours. There's a howling blizzard going on at the moment, so I'm probably an idiot for leaving my apartment, but it takes more than a foot or so of snow to keep me away from the theater!
It better be a good show!!
Oops, I just realized I made a stupid mistake in posting my original question (so stupid, I won't even tell you what it was!)
I've edited my original post to change the question, which is now:
NOEL COWARD to JOHN WAYNE
NOEL COWARD to JOHN WAYNE
NOEL COWARD acted in a film called "The Scoundrel" which was directed and written by
BEN HECHT who was an uncredited writer on "Stagecoach" with
JOHN WAYNE
Ben Hecht is another one who is connected to everybody!
Nice shortcut!
What I had in mind was:
NOEL COWARD was in In Which We Serve with
JOHN MILLS, who is the father of
HAYLEY MILLS, who was in The Parent Trap with
MAUREEN O'HARA, who was in The Quiet Man with
JOHN WAYNE
Bree, how was the show? What did you see? Was it worth adventuring out in the blizzard?
mac, the play I saw yesterday was The Moonlight Room, which was written by a young (32 years old) woman named Tristine Skyler. It's set in the waiting room of a NYC hospital, where two teenagers are waiting for news about a friend whom they've brought to the hospital with a drug overdose. I thought it was very good, and very well acted. It might not have been the most polished play I've ever seen, but I'm sure the polish will come with the author's later plays, which I look forward to seeing.
It's playing at a tiny theater in Tribeca -- the kind of theater where the artistic director also works the box office -- and the theater staff greeted everyone who walked in the door with thanks for coming out to see the play on such an afternoon. There were about 50 of us hardy souls in the audience, with only about 20 empty seats, which isn't a bad proportion of no-shows, considering the weather. I heard one woman say that she wouldn't have missed the play because she had come all the way from California to see it, and that "every high school drama teacher in America wants to see it" (presumably because it's got good parts for teenagers to play).
JOHN WAYNE to ROSEANNE BARR
(I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open for that. My ninth grader is interested in acting!)
There's probably a shorter way to do this, but what I came up with is:
JOHN WAYNE was in Rooster Cogburn with
KATHARINE HEPBURN, who was in The African Queen with
HUMPHREY BOGART, who was in Deadline U.S.A. with
ED BEGLEY, who was the father of
ED BEGLEY, Jr., who was in She-Devil with
ROSEANNE BARR
Alternatively, you could connect John Wayne to Humphrey Bogart through Lauren Bacall, who was in The Shootist with Wayne and who was, of course, married to Bogart.
Cool!:
Mine was:
JOHN WAYNE was in The Greatest Story Ever Told with
SHELLY WINTERS who was in the cast of the TV Series Roseanne (played the grandmother I think) with
ROSEANNE BARR
BARBRA STREISAND to JOHN GIELGUD
BARBRA STREISAND was on The Judy Garland Show with
JUDY GARLAND whose daughter is
LIZA MINNELLI who was in Arthur with
JOHN GIELGUD
If I recall correctly, Shelley Winters was the grandmother. She played Estelle Parsons' mother which always bugged me because they seem close in age. I just checked, and Shelley is only five years older than Estelle...
JOHN GIELGUD to ANNE ARCHER
mac, I had almost exactly what you had, except I had forgotten about Streisand being on the Judy Garland Show, so I would have connected her to Liza through Vincente Minnelli, who directed Streisand in On a Clear Day.
Very nice connection! Hey, you're up late. I didn't think we'd see you back this evening, so I went on without waiting for you.
