US triple its military presence in Pakistan to control Irani

Hello!

The guardian reported last week
Quote:
The US has promised to curb air strikes by drones against suspected militants in Pakistan, as part of a joint counter-terrorism strategy agreed with the new civilian government in Islamabad, the Guardian has learned. That strategy will be supported by an aid package potentially worth more than $7bn (£3.55bn), which is due to go before Congress for approval in the next few months.
The package would triple the amount of American military aid to Pakistan, and is aimed at "redefining" the bilateral relationship, US officials say.

So, as far as I can make out, the US is over again planning to take advantage of Pakistani territory but this time to wage a war against Iran (first time it was a war against Afghanistan).
And yet, even though the US is very generous (7bn dollars is a hell of a sum for Pakistan), Pakistan could really make a scoop and gain much more if only it discontinued being a US puppet and formed some business relations with Iran. For example, Pakistan may transit Iranian gas to India.
In respect that Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline (that promises to be highly profitable for all three sides involved) is about to be completed by September 2009, it is likely that the US intends to foil the whole project in order to prevent Iran and India from growing stronger. It is also possible that Americans simply want to have full control of the valve so that they can stop it in a happy hour.

This is a pretty absurd contention on your part. Increasing the amount of military expenditure is not the same thing as increasing a "military presence." For all practical purposes, the United States does not maintain a military presence in Pakistan. Any American military personnel there are not going to be members of combat units which are to be deployed against anyone, never mind Iran.

What is more idiotic is that you apparently haven't paid much attention to a map. If the United States wanted to threaten Iran with direct military action, or to actually engage in direct military action against Iran, Pakistan would hardly be a plausible base for such operations. The more plausible places would be Afghanistan or Iraq--which actually border Iran, which Pakistan does not. In fact, the only plausible place from which to take direct military action against Iran is Iraq.

I suggest a crash course in geography to improve your understanding of what is possible, and what is plausible with regard to logistics.
