A word that means something by which members of a social class recognize each other.
Signifier?
Status symbol?
Marker?
Secret handshake?
Actually there are a number of signifiers of social class. Education, manners, accent, greetings, clothing etc.
I feel like the word you're looking for is on the tip of my tongue...
regalia might be an instance of the more general concept we want presumably
