I chose "same region", though people here in New Mexico would say not, as they don't consider (it seems) southern California as southwest. Eh, there's one state between, and LA is south and west.

(Los Angeles; Dayton; Los Angeles; Arlington, VA; Los Angeles; New York - Bronx; Chicago; Los Angeles for 44 more years; Eureka-Arcata bay area of northern California; Albuquerque, NM for 2 years.)

I now live 100 miles from where I grew up, in the same state although the geography is quite different.

I've lived in four different cities/towns in Oklahoma plus...Ventura, CA...Cleveland, OH...and Plano, TX.

I was born in Washington, D.C. (then, a quiet southern town, filled with flowers; now, a bustling, smaller town, filled with more and more concrete barriers--and home to an outrageous number of greedy lobbyists and lawyers. And, at both times, the center of some truly ugly weather). For the last 34 years, I've lived in rural NE Maine (quiet, full of artists and other hard-working people, and the center of some of the loveliest scenery and weather in the U.S.). My wife and I are not leaving.

I was born in New York, but went to my grandparents home in an entirely different region while still a small boy, and more or less, that was the region in which i was raised. As an adolescent, i lived sometimes there, and sometimes with an Aunt, in a different region. I have since lived in several different regions, and now live hundreds of miles from the city in which i was born, and many more hundreds of miles from the region in which i was raised. Rather a peripatetic existence.

I was born in The Netherlands, and moved to Canada in 1956. My family moved straight to British Columbia, where I've lived to the present.

I've moved around a lot within BC, though. Probably a dozen or so locations.

10 miles...

but it feels like a million miles away sometimes.

Grew up in Devon, in SW England, left home at 22ish - moved to Cambridge (USAF base) for 6 months, moved to London for a few years, moved to Boston - MA for 2 years, moved to San Francisco-CA for 2 years, moved back to London for 3ish years, moved back to Devon....

the home town hasn't changed that much - but I sure have. Smile

Wow, I grew up in Southern Illinois and now live in Washington state.

It's funny, working in a hospital sometimes I'll ask my patient where they're from just to strike up conversation. Some of my patients were even born at the same hospital they are now getting treatment in as an older adult.

I was born in a little town in South Germany.
Right now I live about 30 miles from there.

And I am still in touch with people I know since Kindergarten.
