8 people have to cross a river by a boat: a father, a mother, two sons, two daughters, a cop, and a convict.
Only the father, mother, and cop can operate the boat and the boat can only fit two people.
How do you get all the people across the river if you are restricted by the following:
1) the father cannot stay with any daughter if the mother is not present
2) the mother cannot stay with any son if the father is not present
3) the convict cannot stay with anyone if the cop is not present
If the restrictions mean that a parent cannot stay with ONE child of the opposite sex, then:

The version I've seen doesn't allow either parent to be in the company of any number of opposite sex children without the opposite sex parent present. There must be a tendency toward incest in that family.
