Azalias in bloom, trees leaving out, 70 plus degrees with sunshine. What a great day. I go outside to mow the grass. Unfortunately, every asshole and jerk in the neighborhood decides it is primo leaf burning weather. Choking on smoke, some of which does not seem like vegetation, I struggle to get the grass along the street cut down. The ground is full of bumps and mud. The bumps are caused by car tires and crayfish. I shove the bouncing little mower along, daydreaming of the nice city air I am missing. New York, San Francisco, Kansas City - Well, not KC. I finish the little strip of grass, then go inside to finish out the day.
Soon to be followed by weeds here...
I've got tree-to-tree snow.
mucho snow in Chicago as well. Spring comes in May.
I don't have a lawn to mow anymore. nyah nyah nyah.
Replaced the whole damn thing with a garden(s).
My daffodils and tulips are blooming, and everything else is thinking about opening their eyes.
I'm looking forward to March, so I can start where I left off last year.
I have a large camphor tree in my yard, that makes a large plot of land very shady, so little grows. I planted 100 caladium bulbs around the tree. The variety that I bought is suited to shade. I am waiting for the little green shoots to peek their heads out of the dirt.
Edgar speaks of mowing the lawn while at the same time I was being tossed around the cab of my truck like a rag doll in a washing machine because of the frozen ruts and ice piles on the roadway
The road was so bad I sometimes found myself in the passenger seat, holding on to the wheel for dear life.

I didn't realize you were a child of the sixties, Phoenix. Where did you score the hallucinogens and what was the cost?

Yup. I have to break out the lawn products next weekend.
spring about to come here... but drought. No use planting or reseeding because we're not allowed to water. sucks. the local hardware stores and garden shops are hurting, feeling the pinch financially.
10 - 15 cm of snow expected overnight
5 - 10 cm of snow expected Friday
5 - 10 cm of snow expected Sunday
<sigh>
Spring has sprung?
I've said it before.
Anyone who lived South prior to airconditioning was a fool.
Anyone who lives North now....
errr, I'm sighing because spring is approaching, not because of the snow
I prefer winter to spring or summer. Not autumn, though. Autumn's the best - partly because it's a sign that snow should be on its way
i like it all. i like snow, and love the spring, adore the hot hot hot summer (110F? Sure! Bring it!), enjoy a beautiful fall.... simply i love the seasons.
