Apocolypse. Explain.

Reply Fri 22 Feb, 2008 05:39 pm
I have three questions. I have Christians in mind but it's open to all religions.

When is the apocolypse going to happen?

What is going to happen during the appocolypse?

Why is it going to happen?

Please post answers.

My intent here is not to squelch your discussion but...those are the seeds for a possible absurdist discussion as no one can know if there is one coming, what will happen, or when there will be, an Apocalypse.

i hope this helps

when: Wednesday, June 18, 2008

what: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes... The dead rising from the grave. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

why: because you touch yourself

Thanks for that djjd62. I'm sure that will be right.

Btw. I actually want to hear serious views. I'm interested. Don't dismiss me because I'm new.

Oh ok then. I'm sorry. Thank for that. These forums are quite good.
But most fundamentalists would believe there is an apocolypse on the way.

did he/she demonstrate not knowing? I sensed that he/she was looking for a discussion about the subject.

THanks. It's he but yes. I've read that and Revelations. I just wondered how many people believed it. Also other religions.

I can speak for myself - I'm agnostic. I cannot believe (or disbelieve) in a Supreme Being. Simply, I don't know the answer here...and no one can prove it to me, either way.

I distinguish my discussion AWAY from the one of discussion of a Biblical God ... as that is a separate entity, which I see as a series of folk tales. {That should remain a separate topic.}.

Apocalypse discussion is part of that separate topic, however, and is functionally part of the lore that goes along with other Bible stories. Man created those stories. It's highly debatable whether or not it was inspired by a 'Supreme Being'.

When we all die, we will find out the truth there, I guess.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet there is or will be no Apocalypse. However, if I'm wrong, it won't matter much, 'cause I'll be dead.

Simply, I don't know the answer here...and no one can prove it to me, either way. If there IS a 'Supreme Being' (not the fictitious Biblical God/Yaweh/Eliyohu), would he/she/it have set up an Apocalypse?

What's the sense of all that as 'Supreme Being' would know how flawed a creation man is? After all..man was created by him/her/it. Man fails the test..almost every time. Look at World Wars and the history of man... dotted with tragedies and wars and disappointment of major proportions. Man 'flunked the test' for ascension so many times and NO Apocalypse has occurred so far.

Or HAS it?

Here's more fodder for this discussion: If there is an Apocalypse..is it PREVENTABLE?

Interesing thoughts there Ragman. That's why I was interested in Why an apocolypse would occur. Is it because God is angry at his creations. Or is it just time to start again? Also in othere religions. Thanks for the feedback anyways.

If God is omniscient and Supreme, why would he be angr as He/She/It knows how Man is flawed and destructive and is doomed to mess up.

You've made a good point there. Christsians would argue that He has given us the chance to repent, which sme have not done. Thus they need to be punished.

How can an omniscient God, who is also All-forgiving, punish man for the flaws He Himself created?

That's fallacious and illogical thinking...allegedly something that a Supreme Being SHOULD be incapable of.

Who punishes God for messing up with Man?

They would say he did not create them Himself. A&E created them by eatinging an apple.

Wait, wait! I know!

Is God's punishment this Apocalypse? God starts the game over again with Man? If so, then He better get it right THIS time! Sheesh!
