You are walking through the jungles of Borneo when you are attacked and kidnapped by a tribe of natives. They will either let you go or eat you, depending on if you can do a simple task. They take you to a hut and blind fold you. On the floor before you like 435 chips made of bone, painted red on one side (with the blood of explorers like yourself). Currently, 173 are facing up red. Your task (while blindfolded) is to make two piles of chips, each containing an equal number of red chips. Will you go free or are you dinner? Twisted Evil

I would put 15 chips in each pile because that's how many rounds are in my clip.

When they freed me and asked me why I put 15 in each pile, then they would find out.

Separate 173 chips from the rest, and turn them all over.

Cool i should have said ur not allowed to answer Laughing

right now there is one pile that contains 173 red chips and 262 (435-173) white chips

count out any 173 chips. that pile will contain r red chips and w white chips, leaving 173-r red chips and 262-w white chips in the old pile

turn over all 173 new chips and u will have w red chips and r white chips, but r+w = 173, so w=173-r, so u have 173-r red chips in the new pile

Actually, you changed the premise of your riddle at least three times now.

As originally worded, the simple answer would be to make two piles of one chip each and just throw the rest away.

Again, you twisted your own premise.

You said ALL of them were painted red on one side.

Any questions? I'd like to see my attorney now.

i did not
they're painted red on one side, therefore they're white on the other, and only some are facing up red, therefore others are facing up white
