RAF forced to borrow US planes

The RAF has been "borrowing" US planes since about 1942 -- P-51s, F-84s, B-29s, In the 1960s it borrowed some US Navy F-4s to cover until its own F-4s were delivered. It has worked the other way too with Mosquitoes, Spitfires, Canberras and Harriers that I know of, and maybe more types of plane.
