From binge drinkers to all day drunks?

Seems they have a problem in England with all the drunks getting kicked out of the bars at 11 p.m. So:

Now they'll have drunks wandering the streets all hours of the day and the night. Is this really an improvement?????

I heard an English barmaid being interviewed on this very subject on NPR news the other night. She said it was a good thing because with the early closing hours now, people tend to start loading up like there's no tomrrow when it's getting close to closing time. With extended hours, she felt, drinkers might pace themselves a little more judiciously. When there's no hurry, you don't chug-a-lug your potables, she said. Be that as it may, 11 p.m. closing is damned uncivilized

Agreed that 11 is a wee bit early. But 7 or 8 AM is also a little strange, no?

I dunno,..last trip to Ireland,..the hotel pub closed when you finished.,,...
Jeez, we were at the bar till 9am, from a wedding that began at 2pm the previous day,...but the bride's mom and dad were right there with us!,....But it also wasn't a "drunken mess",..it was very tame,..but it just didn't end.
