got my fiberglass all done (unless I am unable to weld the rod bolt to the pulley)
and laid it all together.
it rocks...
the 50's key is what really makes it click.

@Rockhead,
Quote:
a little taste of home cooking for all of y'all not from around here...
OMG! How often do you get tornadoes? The weather in England might be pretty depressing at times, but we don't get the extremes that you do. As for the 'fraidy hole - oh boy, you wouldn't easily get me into anything like that - looks like a crypt!
this time of year, any time it rains you need to keep an eye on the radar. but the odds of being hit are like the lottery...
as to the 'fraidy hole, it is the alternative to a crypt if a tornado is bearing down. everything else here will be leveled in a big storm. my trailer moves around pretty good in a big wind as it is...
I've not been down there for safety since I've been here, but it's awfully nice knowing I have it.
once you are inside, it's very decent.
a table and chairs with an old oil lantern, some shelves with food and water, and an exhaust fan and sump pump.
I'm coming to like Buford (my new rooster) better than Barney, as far as behavior goes.
he's not nearly so mean.
yet...
waiting on a phone call to go tow K's car to the boneyard.
got the sprinkler going out back.
and all of the outside kitties are happily munching away. the two little spiky tailed grey kittens are regulars for now...
I don't know how the state determines the "curb weight" that they put on the car titles, but it sure disappoints some folks when they see what one really weighs on the death scales...
she said it would weigh almost 3,000 lbs.
scale said 2320...
and I got a cheesmo little import car battery outta the deal. and gas money.
but I helped a friend...
and I stopped and got the rest of what I needed to finish my sculpture trophy.
(I'm stocked with sharpies now, wally doesn't sell singles)
waited 3 hours for a properly sized (2 1/4 inch) freeze plug to be delivered to mr vw's. now I hafta put a brush finish to it and paint/write letters on it.
the giant screw will run off of an electric motor and belts and pulleys I already have.
and be quiet...
got my medallion all printed and painted. think Ima clearcoat it. (I know, that goes against the grain of rust and grime and "junkiest motor")
but I want it to persevere.
some day folks might compete hard to win my trophy...
I put my business name on the back. but mr vw is on top.
(kinda wishing now I named it Mac's joint, instead of classic restorations and custom metalworks. thassa lot to hand print on a little 2 inch circle...)

(we got a surprise rain shower storm)
I will drop it by mr vw's tomorrow as I go to take gram grocery shopping.
I'm very pleased almost to proud. and I had zero inspiriation before yesterday.
it looks so cool I may even make a duplicate with mr vw's logo in it instead and give it to him for christmas...
