Hey, who was laughing at me when my laptop was freezing because of overheating (?) a couple of days ago!!!

Speaking of which, have you had the problem since you adjusted the surface it was on?

Rockhead, if it isn't already, you might try removing the cover to the CPU box to allow it more air circulation. While it is open, blow out any accumulating dust, dust bunnies and anything else that could be blocking vents and air flow. Also, if you have an extra room fan, aim it at the CPU box when it gets hot.

My computer gets finicky when it gets too hot for the swamp cooler to keep the room below 90. When that happens, I just remove the CPU cover and it seems to solve the problem.

it just shuts down when we get over 100.

It seems to have been okay since I raised it in the air a little on a different stand, thank you Butrflynet. I've discovered where the vent for the fan is - not much action there, only the tiniest breath of air from it, but the laptop doesn't seem to be overheating.

my friend Earache called me this morning.

his new stepkid (he was matrified last weekend in Vegas) crashed into a train something or other.

sounded painful...

tore up most of the front end, but not the bumper.

and he has no full coverage.

but I found a unit I can go negotiate on, for half what he was thinking, and he will come finish wiring my shop so he can paint it here.

or have me, depending on his financial situation.

and the kid has to go get a job as soon as I put the sheet metal back to it...

awesome sounds and no leaks. went ahead and topped off the pond whilst I was there...

had a pair of cardinals playing in the peach tree while the sprinkler passed through it. fascinatingly funny.

we had a cooler day today.

and they predict a week of less than 100. sometimes less than 90...

got a pleasant surprise this afternoon. one of the prickly pears that I scavenged from they back 40 bloomed today.

I took cuttings and potted them.

having mixed success. and sore fingers...

this one had tipped over in the wind, and I just left it lay naked and unpotted on the coffee table.

and it BLOOMED.

after I saw the blooms (there are a pair) I went and got a pot and made him comfortable in a new tip proof home...

busy busy day.

got the sprinkler going still. moving it slowly around the property. damn I take care of a lotta yard...

and I increased it today. and made myself a little stockade outta some old fence panels I removed for a nice lady, behind my old trailer and off of the pond garden. to keep my gardening and yardwork materials in. lotsa fence and poles and...

it will make a verra nice windblock as well. and now my nebbors can't spy on my gourd room without being obvious...

gonna fire up the grill and make me some shrimps. and asparagus.

I am outta dry food for the ferals, and they got a half ration today. and they were all gathered smelling my bacon wrapped shrimp and looking at me real hungry like.

so I filled stinky's never empty dry food bowl (it's wet food time now) and casually strolled out the door with the bag.

guess who was at the window with a twitching tail when I came back in...

and was vocal about it...

but the girls appreciated it.

gonna hafta go to town tomorrow, like it or not...

but first Ima work late tonight with the decent weather. gonna finish welding on the hood, I hope.

mmmmmmmmmmmm.

if there's anything better in this world than slow-grilled bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp with a dash of trappy's green japaleno sauce on it, I don't have a clue what it is.
