the chickens are as settled in as they are gonna get.

separately laying their eggs, and squawking about it...

I sure hope my rooster puts on some feathers soon. he's verra sad looking. but still horny as a bunny rabbit.

he's not tried to mount one of my girls yet, he's sticking to his own clan...

gonna refocus my attention on getting a lawnmower running.

I couldn't find a good depiction of my guy.

he still has some feathers in patches.

but no wings or tail, and he's bald like a buzzard...

he'll get better in my better environment.

my birds have a pretty nice spread now.

been working on the house some to make it more homey.

gonna cut a coupla more windows I think.

more ventilation is a good thing...

Been looking through all my Eagles albums this evening - I never get tired of them, but sometimes I forget about them for a while, then it's great to rediscover them all over again -

How do you think your rooster would like these naked neck Transylvanian chickens?

actually, if you remove the tail and wing feathers, and dapple his color, that is pretty close to how this guy looks.

(he's way different looking than barney was. I got rid of him once because he was not as nice looking a bird)

and he was free.

I paid for the hens, and took the rooster as part of the bargain...

the Iggles will be here in October. Ima try and get a spotlight gig so I can see the whole show.

got my oldest and crustiest mower to run, and bungeed all the parts where I want them.

Ima go try and knock down the jungle a bit before my guest arrives...


it's firkin hot all of a sudden. gonna be almost 100 tomorrow...

This little lady is Barbara, a rescue hen. She doesn't have feathers either - but someone knitted her a nice warm jumper - perhaps your rooster would like a similar one!



And perhaps a chicken tractor for living accommodation?

my girls have a wooden house with a door and a roof and two windows. and a 50 by 50 fenced playground.

dang...

I smacked a skeeter on my hand while I was cooking, and got a bloody mess.

my guest asked me if I just killed the state bird...

they're fierce this year with all the rain.

had a nice evening.

the kid from afghanistan who is waiting for me to finish the vert so I can start his 63 came out for a relaxing evening with his big white german shepherd.

we moved some big logs to the pond and pinned the chimbley up in the rafters while I had an assistant.

a good time was had by all, except the feral kitties. and Stinky.

they were not amused...

summer is here...

came home sick.

stuffed peppers were good. tomato sauce was not. campbells tomato soup.

after making myself retch out by the chicken house, I came in to discover no power.

for a while.

stifling hot...

it's back on now, and I rearranged my bedroom to open the large north window.

and then put my monster shop fan there blowing out.

by bedtime I think it will be bearable...

I survived.

and stinky is the happiest cat on the planet.

he had no idea that we had a big bedroom window...

he's now perched there now observing the ferals come and go. their door to the underside of the trailer is right next to the window.

I gotta go let the chickens out. need to make me one of these...

been working on the chicken house upgrade.

more perches, more nesting boxes, and 4x4 center posts. (It is no longer in danger of falling down)

and a general spiffying...

100 today. and I'm outta hard cider...

and drinking water.

think Ima go see wally...
