I have been reading and hearing about the 'discovery of new species'. My question is---are these really new species or simply new discoveries of previously un-discovered old species?
when biologists say that theyeve discovered a new species, they usually mean that theyve discovered a species heretofore unknown.
Although, there are a few examples of new species arising from existing ones, in Holocene time and these are also"new species"
So , in strictest sene , both are correct.
