well i figured it was time for me to get another sticky post so here it goes

Pirates!!! (YARRR)

# Five pirates found a gold chest with 50 gold coins inside.

To divide them they agreed this:

The oldest one makes a share proposition (how much coins for each one).

- If half or more accept it (*), the division is made and end of story;
- Otherwise, that pirate is killed and it carries on to the new oldest one;

(*) The pirate making the proposal is considered as one which accepts it.

Some things about the pirates:

- Their first priority is to stay alive;
- Their second priority is to gain as much coins as possible;
- In case a pirate's decision doesn't affect the number of coins he receives, his
decision is always to reject the proposal;
- They are very good logicians;

# Now, you are the oldest one. Which proposition do you make in order for you
to stay alive and obtain as much coins as possible?

Example:

Pirate A - Oldest one (You)
Pirate B
Pirate C
Pirate D
Pirate E - Youngest one

If your proposition is to keep 30 coins for yourself and evenly distribute the rest
among the others, enter the solution like this: 30_5_5_5_5 (A_B_C_D_E).

Hm... I would split the pot as such:

16:16:16:1:1

Razz

It is (what should be) a failproof way, though there could probably be a way to maximize your earnings.

The oldest pirate suggests that 50 coins is too few to die for.

First proposes:
48,0,1,0,1
which Third and Fifth will support because otherwise Second proposes:
49,0,1,0
which will be supported by Fourth because otherwise Third proposes:
49,0,1
which will be supported by Fifth because otherwise Fourth proposes:
50,0
which needs no support from Fifth.

He wouldn't be dead. He just wouldn't get as much money as he should. Third and Fifth should support his proposal.
