It seems from what info I've garnered, that much of the popular media is controlled by very few.
I would have thought antitrust laws in the US and the equivalent elsewhere, would have made such monopolistic efforts rather difficult, but that does not appear to be the case.
Why not?
Nope nothing about legal implementations / implications of antitrust, but thanks kindly for the Wiki reference.
I'm aware of the breakup of Ma Bell not the same animal, but thanks kindly for the Wiki reference however I can use Google / Wiki too.
Understandably that was not the intent of this thread.
If you read through those two articles, you'll have a better understanding of why the anti-trust laws haven't worked to curb the media monopolies.
It is basically politics as usual.
It's not that I'm unaware that anti-trust laws are not well enforced.
I'll leave it to you to find the answer you want to hear.
It was intended more as a dialog on antitrust laws as it relates to the circumstances at hand than it was to using Google / Wikipedia.
I am not overly convinced that existing antitrust laws have applied in the "legal duty" sense.
Saying "it is basically politics as usual" is rather tautological.
Saying "I'll leave it to you to find the answer you want to hear." is pretty much a straw man logical fallacy.
