TTH, Is that camera easy to use? Are you satisfied with it? Do you have any issues at all with it?

Sorry for all the questions.

Montana - have you got a big Shoppers Drug Mart near you? one with cameras?

There's going to be another point multiplier event around December 9th - that's how I was able to get a great price on the all-weather Olympus I was after.

(are you registered for this weekend's secret 20x the points event?)

In terms of a tripod, I'd recommend a Gorillapod. I'm very happy with the one I got - you can use it in literally any location - i.e. if you want to photograph the articles outside, you can wrap the Gorillapod's legs around a branch or fence to get the view/angle you want.

Oh cool! Thanks Beth. I am going to be looking for a tripod too, so that sounds awesome!

I didn't sign up for the Shoppers thing and I don't have the funds just yet anyway. I figure I'll be ready to buy in around 3 month, I hope.

No, I don't mind the questions. I think it is real easy to use and I really like it. I don't have one complaint with the camera at all. I might be able to take better pictures if I read the manual though.

Since that was a still photo, here is one that is in motion so you can see how that turned out. This is a helo that is not hovering but, actually moving. It has cameras mounted on it since it was recording an event for tv.

I've a Nikon D200. With digital SLR-cameras it depends a lot on the lenses you've got.

One of mine does macro-shots up to a scale of 1:1, my standard lense up to 1:3.8.

Well then, I think it's safe to assume that it would be out of my price range Laughing

Montana - the manager at my local Shoppers tells me that he's been told that they'll be running the same event this year as last - current model year cameras reduced by 30% (he believes it will coincide with next weekend's extra point redemption event).

The year I bought my camera, it meant that a $399 Olympus was reduced to $269 - and my $150 worth of points turned into $200 - so the camera that was $399 on Thursday cost me $69 on Sunday. Worth keeping an eye on Shoppers for events like this.

No cameras at our rinky dink little Shoppers and I think the nearest big Shoppers is in Moncton about 45 minutes away.

speak to the manager . he might be willing to order what you want from the larger store in moncton . do you get the flyer from moncton store ? you should be able to pick up the flyer on the internet . if you register with shoppers , they'll send it automatically !
