Mame! You great babe, you. Damned good chance, if you saw Dankworth and Laine in Vancouver at that time, I was in the audience too. In my hometown, Chilliwack, one of my buddies parents were from Glasgow. He was a jazz musician and before this couple had made it big, they toured around the islands and when they'd play Glasgow, they go over to the local jazz hangout and jam. So my buddy's dad got to play with them. I'm not sure if she's still touring but she and hubby have a jazz school in London now.
Nice picks, thankyou.
Very young Bing Crosby. I love this song. I love his delivery...but notice if you will, his projected confidence...it's palpable. This is the model for Mitt Romney's campaign. Watch. You'll see I'm right...

mame...this one is for you... a duet that works really well.

Perhaps the best music video ever, for all the right reasons.

Since we're playing great guitar players:
David Gilmour playing Marooned on stage ... absolutely brilliant.

Thanks tico. The guy could make angels pull their car over to the shoulder. This morning, the mailman brought me a two disc dvd set of the Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival from this year. If ya wanna talk guitars. Haven't watched it yet but I know it will be incredible because the liberal media told me so...in the person of Eric Alterman. You oughta read his blog...great music tips. Half a dozen performances recorded here include Clapton and Steve Winwood, a fellow I've always thought exceptional. Here he is with the Spencer Davis group and a classic that he wrote or co/wrote...at about 18.

And another young guy with buckets of talent...Johnny Lang

Actually, I watched a little of it yesterday on PBS. Verra nice!
Here's an underrated guitar player ... Lindsey Buckingham, Big Love, acoustic:

Karel Kryl. Czech singer/songwriter's first concert in free Czechslovakia after the revolution that toppled communism in 1989.
Morituri te salutant and two other songs. It's almost 11minutes long...
There are no words to describe how his music still makes me feel. We used to have smuggled tapes copied in the basements, listen along in secret.... and then he was on a big stage, bigger than life, and we were almost choking on freedom. powerful stuff.
Actually, that was pretty funny - the choreography must have been done by someone in their 80s.
This one was pretty annoying:

And I think I posted that same duet you did, Blatham
and then there's always Japanese rap:

But here's something worth watching: He's got the crowd in his hand, his energy, charisma and talent are boundless.

Blatham, we were probably at the same show but did you catch the Queen concert at the Coliseum in '80 or '81? Absolutely riveting.
Thanks for posting all this music. Some I've heard, some are new. All great.
Blatham, you didnt post your offering from Mark Knoepfler and Chet Atkins. Heres one thats NOT from "Neck in NEck"

I don't understand this exchange at all.
The clip I posted has nothing to do with bass. Two unrelated sentences.

Whoops. I really like this collaborative CD. Just listening to it (as opposed to watching them play) it's difficult to sort out which notes are coming from which guitar as both men play such pure notes. This, Poor Boy Blues", is my favorite song on the CD, and the video they did for it is a treat.

I didn't look back to see if this guy was mentioned.

There's a wonderful documentary film (no narration) on the music of the broadly displaced Drom people (gypsies) as it has evolved in its many iterations. The film is named Latcho Drom and it is really quite astounding...

And far be it from me to bring politics into every discussion, but a recent poll turned up a rather interesting result ...
Quote:Over 90% of conservatives said they never enjoy reggae, electronic music or Latin music. Over 95% said they never enjoy world music and punk music.

Which comfortably explains why I like five out of every 100 conservatives.
