Why do we have to have the screen popup after every post that says "Click here to view topic", and "Click here to return to Forums". Is that really necessary? I'd prefer to go directly back to the end of the thread.
In the past I had modified the original phpbb code to simply redirect to the last post. I haven't yet done it here and might not. The costs of running this site will soon approach $1,000 bucks a month and the page you dislike can help site solvency with ad revenue.
I have to weigh the pros and cons and while I prefer the same method that you prefer I also need to keep in mind my ability to pay for multiple high end servers taht use large amounds of bandwidth.
Right now that page makes little difference in site solvency (it probably makes the site about 10 cents a day) but keeping this site self sufficient is a big concern for me.
Initially I could afford to eat the losses from running A2K. Initially the losses were less than $20 bucks a month.
Now they are progressively higher and I have had to make site solvency a priority.
With the current setup this site can survive the loss of my employment. Without some of the emasures I ahve taken it wouldn't.
So while the end user might think it's the diffrence between an annoying redirect or not to me it might be the difference between being able to have the site at all.

Nah, Deb's far away. All bark and the biting is just snapping at the empty air. Tee hee.

Is that hip, cool, groovy Houston street talk or did you make it up, Mac
It was hip in the 60s when I was a kid... I definitely didn't make it up!
I can't see the ads that are under the click here... ' screen, unless I scroll down to look for them.
