I'm playing a game where the answer is given and what's needed is the riddle. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am stumped!
From the year 1994: The punchline is: They tried to, but it kept coming up 585.9999!
Anyone know the riddle to this punchline?
I guess this is to do with the Pentium FDIV bug. (Google for it). Intel's x86 family of processors went from 8086 to 80186, 80286, 80386, and 80486. Usually this is shortened to the last three figures. Then they decided to change to using a name instead of a number. (You can't copyright a number). So the processor after the 486 was called the Pentium, and not the 586. However the first Pentiums in 1994 had a bug which made them give wrong answers to certain calculations, and had to be recalled. So my riddle and answer would be...
Did you hear what happened in when Intel wanted to make a 586 processor? They tried to, but it kept coming up 585.9999!
Thank you very much! I'll report back tomorrow when they reveal the correct answer!

Contrex...you were right! I knew it had to do with the pentium but I didn't put the thing together. You made sense of it all for me! Thanks again!
